Our educational approach in Early Years

At our Early Years school in Valencia, we encourage children’s all-round growth, developing every one of their abilities. We offer a complete educational programme covering every dimension of a child’s development, from cognitive to social and emotional, through:

Beyond the classroom, we give our children the chance to explore the world through cultural outings and arts projects, encouraging their curiosity, creativity and sense of belonging to the community.

Internationalisation

Bilingual nursery in Valencia: English language immersion

In an English immersion environment with native and/or bilingual teachers, our daily practice is based on learning through play, so that children acquire English effectively as a second language. Our method combines playful, multi-sensory and structured activities that help us track each child’s progress.

We prioritise listening and speaking, starting with our Bilingual Baby Sign (BBS©) method and then introducing synthetic phonics, which is essential for sound language development.

From 4 months to 2 years, 100% of activities are taught in English, with a native English-speaking teacher and a bilingual teacher in every classroom, so that children build a close emotional bond in both languages.

From 3 to 5 years old, 50% of activities are taught in English, alternating full days in English and Spanish, with daily literacy and phonics sessions respectively.

International education at our English nursery in Valencia

Our pupils join the Cambridge International Primary programme from the age of 5. This high-quality academic programme stays with them throughout their time at Cumbres, broadening the curriculum and reflecting our commitment to academic excellence and an international education.

We also offer children the chance to sit spoken English assessments accredited by Trinity College London, designed specifically for this age group.

We prepare our children to become confident, competent digital citizens. Through coding workshops with Bee-Bots and the use of iPads, among other tools, they develop computational thinking, creativity and problem-solving skills. They learn to use digital tools responsibly and effectively, which also builds creativity, innovation and critical thinking: essential skills for the challenges ahead.

Every day in Early Years at Cumbres School is designed to give our children a rich and enjoyable experience. Our Early Years programme fosters each child’s all-round development, from the cognitive to the social and emotional.
